Foot SPA Q&A

We have available 2 Hydrogen Advanced Foot Spa versions, one with a Platinum array and one with a Standard array, please see link. The first array is included in the price, then once these are spent, separate arrays can be purchased as well.

Foot Spa

Arrays

The array of the machine is an ion generator which once immersed in water produces both negative and positive ions. The settings are automatic. The array is connected to the device and needs to be put in water in a basin. The arrays are just consumable accessories for the foot spa, you cannot use them independently, without the main device. The arrays are consumed over time, due to the electrical currents.

What accessories come with the Foot Spa?

Included in the Aluminium case is the 1x main touchscreen unit plus 1 x power unit, and you can choose either the standard array or the platinum array. With your purchase we also include a manual where instructions regarding the Foot Spa are further detailed.
We do no supply the footbath basin. Any plastic bowl large enough to fit your feet into is fine. A ceramic or glass bowl (or any non-conductive material) can also be used, we do not recommend stainless steel.

Which plug does the foot spa come with?

Plug provided is the UK plug. For USA and EU customers we generally provide a suitable plug. If no alternative plug is provided, depending on your local requirements, you might need to purchase a plug adapter (travel adapter) from your local electrical store.

Who cannot use the Foot Spa?

Any person falling into one or more of the following categories should NOT use the Ki Science Advanced Hydrogen Foot Spa:

  • An individual with a pacemaker, other magnetic device or battery-operated electrical implant.

  • An individual with a metallic implant.

  • An individual who is taking heart medication and/or blood thinners.

  • An individual who has received an organ transplant.

  • Pregnant or nursing women.

  • An individual on medication or psychotherapy, the absence of which would cause physical or mental impairment or other associated conditions.

  • An individual who is sensitive to low-level positive and negative currents while their feet are submerged in water.

Cautions:

  • Caution for any individual who has irregular blood pressure.

  • Caution for any individual who has irregular blood sugar levels.

  • Caution for any individual with metallic implants (such as supporting rods, knee or hip replacements).

  • Children should only use the foot spa under direct supervision of a health practitioner.

  • Our practitioners generally recommend for all metal dental fillings, especially mercury, to be replaced before starting a detox protocol.

How long should I use the Foot Spa for each treatment?

It is generally recommended to start slowly, with short sessions (even 5-10 minutes) and then gradually build up, but do not exceed a 30-minute session. If preferred you can do shorter sessions all the time. Leave at least 48 hours between sessions.
If several individuals have consecutive sessions one after the other in the same day, make sure to leave at least 30 minutes between sessions to allow the device to rest.

How do I clean the array?

We recommend cleaning the array after each use. This can be done simply by rinsing the array with clean water and allowing to air dry in a cool dry place.
From time to time, especially if there are mineral build-up deposits on the array due to hard water, you will need to deep clean the array to remove these. As such, disinfection and array cleaning can be done with vinegar. Please submerge the array into a clean container with 10% citric acid solution or vinegar and leave to soak for 5-10 minutes, then rinse well with clear water and let it air dry.

Is tap water ok to use for the foot bath?

We generally recommend to use filtered tap water, as this will also prolong the life of the array. Distilled water can also be used if preferred.
The Standard Array needs a bit of salt added to the water in order to function. Any salt is fine, sea salt or similar.
For the Platinum array version, it is fine if the H level is above 2.5 and below 4.5 when using the Foot Spa program. If the water is too low in minerals this will result in an H level which is too low, so you might need to add a bit of salt (just a pinch).

Ki Science offers two arrays for the Foot Spa. What is the difference?

Both arrays can be used as suitable devices for detox foot spa treatments. You can change to a different array at any time or alternate between the two, depending on your preference.
Both arrays are consumable items and would need replacing after being used for a certain amount of times. The standard array should last for approximately 35-40 uses, while the platinum array is expected to last in excess of one year when used regularly every week.
The Platinum array does not colour the water at all. This array is platinum plated and it does not corrode or erode while in function, also does not oxidize/rust, unlike Standard arrays which only last for shorter periods of time due to this. The Standard array only has the foot spa function and there is no difference on this function between the arrays.
Some Standard arrays do give a bit of colour to the water or can get a bit rusty especially as time goes by, it can happen even before the feet are in water, this is because of the oxidation that occurs during the ionisation process, enabled by the use of salt, as well as because of the impurities in the water. This water colour change is not due to detoxing.

How do I know when the array is no longer working?

The lifetime of each array will be dependent on various factors; the quality and mineral content of the water, how often the array is used, the length of each session and how well it is maintained. When the array no longer produces bubbles whilst in use it is coming to the end of its life, and will need replacing.

Safety Information & Key Considerations

Make sure you support your body and the detoxifying process with toxin binding supplements as recommended by your health practitioner and keeping detox pathways open with: plenty of filtered water, healthy bowel movements, correct breathing, good posture and relaxed movement and sweating.

The Hydrogen Detox Foot Spa’s functions are the same, irrespective of the colour of the water that is resulting from the array, this does not determine how well the machine functions. According to our practitioners (Ki Science Medical Advisers), the toxins secretion will leave the body through stool, urine and sweat, and the colour of the water produced during the functioning of the machine is not relevant. They are also recommending taking binders in order to support the body through the detoxification process.
Also, they generally recommend for all metal dental fillings, especially mercury, to be replaced before starting a detox protocol.
The arrays produce bubbles while in function. The Platinum array produces very fine microbubbles which give a sort of cloudy aspect to the water, while the Standard array has larger bubbles. As long as the arrays are bubbling the Foot Spa is working normally.
